Art & History Concert

September 24 & October 21, 7:30pm. The Nexus of History and Art

The Wethersfield Historical Society and the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts are delighted to announce a new collaboration offering a series of unique musical presentations and cultural talks in the Ballroom at the Keeney. The quarterly series opens on September 24 at 7:30 pm with Miss Maybell & the Jazz Age Artistes presenting From Ragtime to Jazz: 1900 to 1930. The program features songs presented chronologically showing the evolution of American songwriting in the early 20 th century. The artists are Lauren Sansaricq on vocals, washboard, guitar, and banjo; Charlie Judkins on piano; and Brian Nalepka on bass and tuba. Suggested donation at the door: $20.00.

The series continues on October 21 at 7:30 pm when The Hot Club of New England (with Matt and Atla DeChamplain) furthers their mission to bring the elegant and classic style of the swing era and the roaring 20’s to a modern audience.
