Wethersfield 250 Jubilee
May 23rd, 10:00am – 4:00pm. Wethersfield 250 Jubilee: Revolutionary War Encampment & Traditional Trades Fair
With the 5th Connecticut Regiment & Traditional Trades Artisans
Webb Deane Stevens beloved Revolutionary War Encampment joins forces with the Traditional Trades Fair for a free, family-friendly day marking America’s 250th on the museum grounds.
Watch the 5th Connecticut Regiment drill and skirmish, chat with a camp surgeon about his gruesome profession, and see skilled artisans demonstrate the timber framing, weaving, and carpentry that built the nation and keep our oldest buildings standing. Hands-on workshops, Colonial games, delicious food, and a vendor market with local crafts, demonstrations and gifts all day.
Stop by the reception desk of Keeney Memorial Cultural Center and pick up a scavenger hunt for children. Search through the Legendary People, Ordinary Lives exhibit at the Keeney Center, the American Girlhood and Remember the Ladies exhibits at the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum to find scavenger hunt objects and images. Present your completed scavenger hunt at the welcome desk of the Webb-Deane-Stevens Visitors Center to receive a reward.
Take a break from all the action and excitement outdoors and relax in the Rotary Room of the Keeney Center. Coloring sheets of Wethersfield houses are available in this quieter space all day.
The historic Hurlbut-Dunham House, 212 Main Street, Wethersfield will be open for free guided tours from 10am to 4pm. Tours of the historic Cove Warehouse will also be available from 1pm to 4pm.
