April 19th, 10:00am and 1:00pm. The Shot Heard ‘Round the World Tours
April 19th marks the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord that kicked off the Revolutionary War. Wethersfield Historical Society will commemorate this anniversary with two special tours. Each will last 60 – 90 minutes. Admission to the General Public is $10.00 per tour. Current members of Wethersfield Historical Society will be admitted free of charge.
– 10:00 am Revolutionary War Themed Ancient Burying Ground Tour
Volunteer research librarian Martha Smart leads a tour of the Ancient Burying Ground which focuses on the stories of Revolutionary War veterans buried there. Tours convene at the front desk of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield).
– 1:00 pm Revolutionary War Walking Tour of Wethersfield
Museum Educator Gillie Johnson leads the Revolutionary War Walking Tour. On this tour, participants travel approximately 1 mile around Main, Marsh, Broad, and Garden Streets and learn about some of the people and sites in town that played a role in the Revolutionary War. Tours convene at the front desk of the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center (200 Main Street, Wethersfield).
