Main Street Decorative Streetlight Improvements
The Town plans to utilize Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP) funds from the CT Department of Transportation to reconstruct Main Street from Garden Street to Hartford Avenue that will include construction of a new off-road, multi-use trail between the Keeney Memorial Center and Cove Park. The project will also include replacement of existing decorative streetlights with new decorative LED fixtures to improve visibility and reduce energy costs, and extending the light system located along Main Street further south to Garden Street and north to State Street.
The existing decorative light fixtures are no longer manufactured. Therefore, prior to the start of project design, a sample decorative LED streetlight fixture has been installed at the raised crosswalk located in front of the Keeney Center, which resembles the existing fixtures and is currently proposed for the new installations. The Town is seeking feedback from the public regarding the appearance and light levels provided by this fixture.
