Wethersfield Seeks Residents for Ad Hoc Committees

Released: July 24, 2019

The Town of Wethersfield seeks residents to participate in the creation of two ad hoc committees

The first is to create a selection committee for funds allocated by The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving (HFPG). HFPG is making funding available to 29 Greater Hartford towns (up to $100,000, with approximately $50,000 initially and a $50,000 endowment for future distribution). The allocation of funds is to be determined by a non-government, citizen group. The selection committee is needed to create the town’s Community Funds Advisory Committee. The advisory committee will be the group that provides recommendations on how to spend the funds. The members of the selection committee will only serve for a short period of time with the sole purpose of creating the advisory committee and will not be able to serve on the advisory committee.

If you are interested in serving on the selection committee or the advisory committee, please contact the Town Manager’s Office at cheryl.pearce@wethersfieldct.gov no later than August 1, 2019.

The second ad hoc committee will provide recommendations to the Council, through the Town Manager’s Office, on possible re-use scenarios of Kycia Farms. The town will take ownership of the approximately 35 acre parcel(s) on or around August 1, 2019. The committee will ensure a transparent process and provide opportunities to vet ideas using open meetings and public forums. The group may: 1) RFP for a consultant(s) through an established process; 2) work with town designated staff to research and prepare for planning or other grant applications related to understanding potential re-use of the property; 3) host town-wide charrettes open to the public; and 4) help present findings to the Council. Additional assistance may be requested by the town manager.

Only Wethersfield residents are able to participate on either of these committees. While no special skill set is required, residents may be requested to meet with the town manager and/or complete a brief survey regarding personal or professional experiences in order to be considered for either committee.

If you are interested in serving on the Kycia Farms committee, please contact the Town Manager’s Office at cheryl.pearce@wethersfieldct.gov no later than August 7, 2019
